Italian Herbs Salt

I love herbs!! I love how they add flavor and dimension to my meals. You can easily change a dish you enjoy preparing by simply swapping herb combinations. Herbs are magical!! Their health benefits are unparalleled!

My favorite additive to salads is herbs. More specifically, I like to add spicy Italian herbs and salt to my salads. I make a batch of Italian Herbs Salt and keep it handy near the stove. It is a simple recipe that gives a lot of punch and irresistible flavor to any meal. And, here’s the best part, it is super easy to make with spices you already have in your spice rack.

½ Teaspoon dried thyme
½ Teaspoon dried rosemary
½ Teaspoon dried parsley
½ Teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
½ Cup fine sea salt

In a small mixing bowl combine thyme, rosemary and parsley. Using a mortar and pestle, grind the spices until preferred consistency. Add the crushed red pepper flakes and mix. Pour sea salt into a measuring cup and add spices. Mix well to combine and transfer to your favorite salt storage container.

Goodness, wasn’t that easy!?! Let’s not forget delicious too! I like to use a glass measuring cup to make sure I see the spices are mixing well together. Taste the salt and determine if you need more herbs. Start by adding small quantities of herbs and mixing. If you add too much, you can always add more sea salt. I make ½ cup at a time since my bamboo container holds about ¾ cup.
